PROCEDURES FOR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS
Give completed college application to your counselor three weeks before the due date.
Each application must be placed into a large envelope (10” x 13”), addressed to the Admissions Office, with full address for admissions office on an address label placed in the center of the envelope or you may type the address directly on the envelope. Please check with your counselor for address labels already addressed to different universities and colleges.
Example:
Office of Admissions Millersville University
P. O. Box 400160 Office of Admissions
University of Virginia P. O. Box 1002
Charlottesville, VA 22904 Millersville PA 17551-0302
Do not put a return address on the envelope.
(New Media Technology Charter School will provide the return address labels and postage)
Each envelope must include: (1) completed/signed application (exception is an application completed online); (2) check/money order (made out to college’s Admissions Office) or application fee waiver; (3) your personal essay; (4) your resume.
Request TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS, from 2 – 3 teachers who know you well and who you feel will be able to present a complimentary assessment of your ability. You may pick up teacher recommendation forms from counselor’s office. Give the teacher at least two weeks to prepare your recommendations. If you have some information that you want the teacher to include, attach a note to the form with details. Your teacher can write a strong letter if he/she knows you, your abilities, and your accomplishments. Ask your teacher to return your completed recommendations to the counselor. Your recommendations will be copied and kept on file for future use.
Allow 2 weeks for processing. Processing involves:
A) Preparing the transcript, which includes your class rank, grade point average (GPA) and report card grades.
B) Preparing Counselor recommendations ( if needed)
C) Copying recommendations and transcripts (also placing school seal on all official transcripts).
D) Reviewing applications for correctness and completeness.
E) Mailing out entire package.
If you want your applications to be received by the colleges in time, pay close attention to the DEADLINE DATES and prepare for them well in advance.
